Letter urging a recess appointment for Elizabeth Warren

To Rep. Collin Peterson:

43 members of Congress have already signed a letter circulated by Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), which is urging a recess appointment for Elizabeth Warren. Your name is not among them.

I have added my name to a parallel petition. I quote an e-mail from Senator Al Franken:

"Since the president appointed Elizabeth Warren to set up the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau she has proven she can stand up to Wall Street. Now, it's time for a permanent leader to be appointed and, because Republican senators have vowed to block anyone, it's up to President Obama to use his power [sic] constitutional power to bypass Republicans and make a recess appointment.

"Academics who know Elizabeth well -- like Lawrence Lessig and Dean Baker -- as well as prominent progressive organizations of all stripes like Democracy for America, Democracia, CREDO Action, the Sierra Club, VoteVets, MoveOn, and others have signed on to the PCCC's letter. Even Wall Street folks who support reform have signed on."

I urge you to show your support for Warren by signing the Maloney letter to Obama. If you have heard her testify on Capitol Hill, you must know that she is the right person for the job. If you don't support her, I would suggest you state your reason on your house.gov website so that your constituents may know why you are against an effective Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Thank you.
